How to commission a completely bespoke artwork
by Gabrielle Dudley.
Ordering single tiles or a tiling mural
First consultation and initial design ideas are usually free.
Design work is produced using the information discussed and will be charged for according to the necessary research work and time spent but is usually around £75. You will be given a choice of designs to choose from and a quote for the proposed work.
Mould making for the repeated production of single tiles will be added as an extra.
When a design has been chosen, a deposit of one third of the quoted price is payable. You will be advised if there will be a delay before your work can start for finishing any other work in progress.
You will be contacted after the first biscuit firing to make sure that you are happy with the progress of your work and to choose colours given on appropriate test tiles. You may be asked to make a further payment at this stage.
When your tiling is complete you will be given the chance to inspect your tiles and to approve the final finish and colour. The final payment is required upon delivery or collection.
Ordering a painting
Painting commissions are welcomed. The quoted price is calculated by area and complexity and the amount of research needed. If a site visit is required for photographs etc, this will be added onto the quoted price. You will need to have an idea of the size and subject that you would like to have, and give an indication of your preferred overall colour and style. A deposit of half the quoted price will be required before a canvas can be prepared for you. Only the finest canvas is mounted on a quality pinewood stretcher frame. The preferred medium is oil paint, but acrylics can be used if preferred. The remainder of the price is required on completion and collection. Framing is not provided in the quoted price.
